Once Upon a Read-a-Thon 2011

Once Upon a Read-a-Thon

Starting Monday, I will be participating for the second time in the fabulous Once Upon A Read-a-Thon. I had so much fun last year, and I couldn't help but do it again this year!

Last year, I posted my usual reviews and memes alongside the read-a-thon updates, and that was kind of weird and cluttered, so I don't think I'll be doing that this year. I'll just post my min-challenge entries, updates, etc., and hopefully it won't be so wacky this time around.

I'm going to have a list here of the four books I'd like to get read during the read-a-thon, but that is definitely subject to change. I am ashamed to admit that, out of the four books I had on my original list last year, I still haven't read two. I fail at life XD

So, here are my four read-a-thon books for this year:

1. Chimera by Rob Thurman - GoodReads - Amazon

New from the national bestselling author of Roadkill

A sci-fi thriller that asks the questions...

What makes us human...
What makes us unique...
And what makes us kill?

Ten years ago, Stefan Korsak's younger brother was kidnapped. Not a day has passed that Stefan hasn't thought about him. As a rising figure in the Russian mafia, he has finally found him. But when he rescues Lukas, he must confront a terrible truth-his brother is no longer his brother. He is a trained, genetically-altered killer. Now, those who created him will do anything to reclaim him. And the closer Stefan grows to his brother, the more he realizes that saving Lukas may be easier than surviving him . . .

2. Moonglass by Jessi Kirby - GoodReads - Amazon

From Jessi Kirby, a debut novel about confronting the past in order to move ahead.

I read once that water is a symbol for emotions. And for a while now, I've thought maybe my mother drowned in both.

Anna's life is upended when her father accepts a job transfer the summer before her junior year. It's bad enough that she has to leave her friends and her life behind, but her dad is moving them to the beach where her parents first met and fell in love- a place awash in memories that Anna would just as soon leave under the surface.

While life on the beach is pretty great, with ocean views and one adorable lifeguard in particular, there are also family secrets that were buried along the shore years ago. And the ebb and flow of the ocean's tide means that nothing- not the sea glass that she collects on the sand and not the truths behind Anna's mother's death- stays buried forever.

3. Among the Ghosts by Amber Benson - GoodReads - Amazon

A ghost story in which a young girl's parents ship her off to a boarding school where, after some snooping around the gothic old estate, she meets a group of similar outcasts that can finally relate to. Unfortunately, her new friends turn out to be the ghosts of students who died in a horrible dormitory fire. Things go from weird to worse when her new ghostly schoolmates start disappearing and she realizes that she is the only person, living or dead, who can help them.
4. Hounded by Kevin Hearne - GoodReads - Amazon

Tempe, Arizona is as far removed from paranormal activity as is possible. And that’s where Atticus O’Sullivan, rare book salesman, herb peddler, and 2,000 year old Druid the last of his kind has decided to set up shop. He’s been on the run, guarding a very powerful sword from a very angry ancient Celtic god for over two millennia now. But while these years have been good to him Atticus has become more powerful than he could have possibly imagined The Morrigan, a very old god of death, has predicted death and doom for our hero, and it’s up to Atticus, with help from a pride of werewolves, and a gorgeous bartender possessed by an Indian witch, to stay alive, hopefully for another thousand years.

I hope that all of you who are joining me have a great read-a-thon!
