I have one word to describe this book: DISAPPOINTING. I loved Wings so much that I fully expected this to be a good, fast-paced, funny read like the last one, but it was none of those things. Hopefully, the third will be better. If it isn't then I don't think I'll be getting the fourth, if there are that many.
Six months have passed since Laurel saved the gateway to the faerie realm of Avalon. Now she must spend her summer there, honing her skills as a Fall faerie. But her human family and friends are still in mortal danger--and the gateway to Avalon is more compromised than ever.
When it comes time to protect those she loves, will she depend on David, her human boyfriend, for help? Or will she turn to Tamani, the electrifying faerie with whom her connection is undeniable?
Well, I usually write a few paragraphs about what happened in the book, minus any spoilers, but I don't think enough actually happened in Spells to warrant that many words. Basically, David was pissy, Tamani got ignored by the girl he loves, and Laurel whined. Oh, and Barnes came back. Like 5/6 of the way into the book. Before that, it was just Laurel describing random scenery and thinking lovey-dovey thoughts.
It sucked. Plain and simple. I'm really sad about that, since Wings was so, so good! I'm not sure what happened, but this one just fell flat. That's happened in a lot of series I've been reading recently, the first book is amazing, then the second is b...o...r...i...n...g (Evermore, Wings, The Maker's Song). I almost couldn't finish it, and it killed my read-a-thon goals.
Well, I've got a busy day in four hours, so I'm sorry if this post was really short :'( Hopefully I can come up with a better one tomorrow.
